Our story
Hello, we are Shotaro and Kazue, the hosts of Shibamata BnB.
We are a couple, and we run this home together with care and love.
We both love traveling overseas and have visited many countries over the years.
We have also lived abroad, and through our journeys, we have met people from many different cultures and backgrounds.
While living in Japan, we often took our country for granted.
However, seeing Japan again from the outside Japan helped us rediscover how special it truly is.
Japan, as an island nation, has developed a very unique culture.
The Japanese language, spoken almost exclusively by Japanese people, our distinctive food culture, and even the unspoken customs and atmosphere are unlike anywhere else in the world.
For travelers visiting Japan, the language barrier or the limited use of English may sometimes feel inconvenient.
But we believe that this “inconvenience” is also what has shaped Japan’s deep and original culture over time.
As we traveled around the world, we encountered so much kindness and goodwill from people in many countries.
We experienced moments that deeply moved us and left lasting memories.
Because of this, as Japanese hosts, we wanted to give something back to those who visit Japan from abroad.
We also have a strong wish to share more of Japan’s culture with the world.
That is why we chose Shibamata as the place for our home.
Shibamata is a wonderful area filled with traditional Japanese charm.
It may not be as lively as modern districts like Shibuya or Shinjuku, nor as busy as famous tourist spots such as Asakusa.
But Shibamata offers experiences and scenery that can only be found here.
